Magnificent film from the 1950s - the story and theme music will charm you.
Sean Thornton (John Wayne), a retired American boxer, tries to put tragedy behind him by returning to Innisfree, the little Irish village of his birth. He meets and falls for Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O’Hara) but not before he’s enraged Red Will Danaher (Victor McLaglen).
John Wayne gives a surprisingly subtle performance as a fish out of water and is well partnered throughout by Maureen O’Hara. An Oscar winning movie well worth having.
