Country women’s work was often something that was taken for granted.

This 1999 full colour video recognises the contribution of the ordinary ’wifie’ to the heritage of the north east country way of life. See her making home made cheese, scones, bread, bannocks. Doing the weekly wash, black leading pots, milking the cows. Drift back in time to meet the wife collecting her fish and delivering to her country customers. Remember too, the vital role played by women in the land army of the war.
