Charles Edward Stuart was born in exile in 1720, and spent his early life in Rome. He returned to Scotland in a famous attempt to raise a rebellion among the clans of Scotland to march on London and re-establish his father as king.
Ultimately his army was defeated at the hands of the Duke of Cumberland resulting in the death of many a highlander. The young Prince eventually made it safely back to Europe where his life declined into alcoholism and eventual obscurity.
